The French Get Two Things Right

Number One:

Nicholas Sarkozy was the top vote-getter in the first round of the French presidential election, topping Socialist Segolene Royal 30 percent to 26 percent. Minor candidates took up the rest of the vote. Sarkozy has pledged to warm relations between the U.S. and France, as well as usher in a new campaign of cutting taxes and reforming work and immigration laws. Right on.

The second round of voting will be held on May 6. The last poll had Sarkozy with 53.5 percent to Royal's 46.5 percent.
